Let’s Talk: His(story) Lesson with Dr. Nia Nunn
Join us Friday, February 17th at 12pm for a special Let’s Talk as we celebrate Ithaca’s gem, Dr. Nia Nunn. During this hour-long program, you’ll experience a lesson on Ithaca’s rich history and role in the Underground Railroad and the importance of preserving our historic buildings. Dr. Nia will share news, events, and information on how Southside Community Center will celebrate Black History Month…and how we can join in on the celebration. We will also be blessed with a special reading from her book, Deep Breath.
An associate professor at Ithaca College, Board of Directors President of The Ithaca Southside Community Center and Dr Nia Nunn wears multiple head-wraps in her community and across several classrooms and board rooms across the country, as an educator-performer-scholar-artist-mother. Prior to receiving a B.A. in Early childhood education at Clark Atlanta University (2003), and a Ph.D. in school psychology at Michigan State University (2011), Dr. Nia was born and raised in Ithaca. As part of her passion and responsibility, she is committed to learning and engaging audiences creatively, intensely, and gracefully. Her workshops, research, philosophy, and other offerings focus on a Black feminist approach to anti-racist curricula.
