Resources as You Consider Your Philanthropic Response to Ovid Fire Disaster

 

OPTION 1

“In response to the devastating fires in Ovid on January 21st, Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes will coordinate the collection and distribution of financial support for those affected. We are pleased to partner with the United Way of Seneca County and other community organizations to support our neighbors in need.

Community members interested in donating may do so online at https://tinyurl.com/CCFLOVID be sure to enter OVID in the notes section. Contributions can also be mailed or delivered to our Geneva Office at 94 Exchange Street, Geneva, NY 14456.”

OPTION 2

Ovid Fire Relief Fund

Contributions can be made to Ovid Fire Relief Fund, Community Bank, PO Box 389, Ovid NY 14521.

Objectives: To provide a local, transparent, trusted way to donate financially for the approximately 6o people who have lost jobs and over 20 people who lost their homes from the 1/21/25 block Fire in Ovid.

Process:

Disbursements will be made using prepaid VISA cards to victims burned out of their apartments and to employees of the lost businesses as fairly as possible. People who have lost apartments will be paid per-person no matter the age.

100% of funds donated will be distributed to victims, local known administration.

Contact Rev. Rob Mellgard pastor and chaplain or Diane Kelly, director, Ovid Federated Church Food Pantry to make financial donations. Call (607) 869-2794. Office hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Food Pantry takes calls from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m and Thursday 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
